Come Experience The Foundry

Blog Post - September 23, 2015

Category: What's New

You can find so many treasures hidden in Carlsbad Village.  One of them, The Foundry Studios, is hiding in plain sight.  Attached to the New Village Arts Theater on State Street, The Foundry is a more than just an art studio – it’s many studios!  And it’s open to the public.

What is the Foundry Studios?
Established in August of 2009, the Foundry Studios at New Village Arts is a place where raw materials are forged into original works of art. With 16 resident artists, each with his/her own individual artist style, the Foundry has become a haven for the creative process and allows art to always be.

The Foundry’s Purpose
Art, whether it be theatrical, musical, visual, et cetera, is truly an instrumental tool of our discovery into the less visible parts of ourselves. It soothes, inspires, reminds, documents, and gratifies our inner workings. An investment in the arts can touch us in the most intangible ways and help us to maintain the wholeness that sometimes is lost in the banter of our busy lives.

Art For Sale
Most of the works are for sale and in order to serve your needs, we have several methods of payment that include cash, check, credit, and our Art‐A‐Way program, where you make individual payment arrangements with the artist. If a piece moves you, don’t hesitate to ask. All artists are open to negotiation as there is nothing we want more than to find good homes for our works.

The Artists Market:  Your Local Art Experience
Monthly artists’ receptions, hosted by the resident artists of NVA’s Foundry Art Studios is held on the first Wednesday of each month from 5:00pm – 8:00pm.  Each Artists Market will showcase the incredible talents of individual Foundry artists along with live music and an all-age interactive community art project.  The Artists Market follows the existing Carlsbad Village Farmers Market, in order to enhance the Carlsbad Village experience.  The evenings’ programming is always free.
