Fine Art Meets Urban Art On One Very Special Weekend

Blog Post - August 2, 2017

Category: What's New

Sunday, August 13th -- An amazing array of art is coming to downtown Carlsbad Village in less than two weeks.  On Sunday August 13th, the 19th Annual Art in the Village will transform State Street and Grand Avenue with over 100 fine artists like Robert Kaler, displaying everything from oil painting to watercolor to photography to sculpting to jewelry, and more.  Live sculpting demos will be taking place by Lynn Forbes School of Sculpture and live painting demos will also be taking place, in addition to live music, artisan foods and more.  This open air fine art, juried event, is a special and unique event to the coast and one worthy of a day's visit.  With restaurants, wineries, coffee shops, and wonderful retail all within reach, plan on spending the day in downtown Carlsbad Village.

On the weekend of August 12 and 13, resident artist, Bryan Snyder, will also be transforming the Art Wall into a new work of art.  Armed with spray paint and a vision, Snyder will be recreating the cover of the Carlsbad Magazine on the west facing wall of Senor Grubby's.  This will be the 13th art installation on this urban canvas.  In addition to transforming the Art Wall (which will stay visible for about two months before Snyder curates the next artist to transform it once again) North County local Alex Gall will also be installing a sculpture to further transform this outdoor art exhibit.
