Thank You For Supporting Art in the Village

On Sunday, June 27th, several thousand people celebrated art in downtown Carlsbad at the 23rd Annual Art in the Village. Over 100 fine artists had their amazing artwork on display for all to see, and no one was disappointed. With picture-perfect weather, the public strolled the four block venue, listened to a dozen musical acts, watched live sculpting by Lynn Forbes of Lynn Forbes School of Sculpture, and even wood turning by Roman, a 35-year veteran of the art of wood turning. Gabby's Face Painting kept the little ones happy and Monica Martin Fine Art hosted a Kid's Color Zone where children of all ages were able to color postcards with art direction by the greeting card artist.

A special thanks belongs to Carlsbad Village Music for sponsoring the music on South State Street. Starting at 9am and lasting the entire day, Carlsbad Village Music kept music of all kinds going strong. Teachers, students, and even professional musicians played for the crowd. The Village Rock Shop also generously sponsored music for this event and kept North State Street and East Grand alive with music. A total of six different music acts kept everyone entertained throughout the day. People danced in the streets and marveled at the amazing harmonies. It's local businesses like these two that help make free community events possible in Carlsbad Village.

This year's event was successful on so many fronts. Not only did a great deal of artwork find new homes this weekend, but community joined together and came out to enjoy downtown Carlsbad, together. It was the first time that many artists were back in front of the public in 15 months and they were so grateful for the love and support.

This year's event was a bit scaled back compared to previous years, but not any less special. Stay tuned for more artists, more artwork, more demos, more music, and even more fun, next year at the 24th annual Art in the Village.
