Carlsbad Village Books will host the launch event for Notes of Deception, the true story of how four American musicians from the Klezmer Conservatory Band smuggled secret intelligence in and out of the Soviet Union during the Cold War, using their own sheet music as a cipher. Author Merryl Goldberg, the group's saxophonist and mastermind behind the encoding plan, will be on hand to share the story firsthand. Notes of Deception has been featured on People.com, The Mark Thompson Show, Now I've Heard Everything, and A Way with Words.
