429.8 Pounds of Trash in One Morning: Thank You to Our Incredible Community!

What an incredible way to close out our August Community Clean-Up! On Saturday, August 15, volunteers came together throughout Carlsbad Village and collected an impressive 429.8 pounds of litter in just two hours.

That brings the total impact of our Community Clean-Up program to an incredible 5,500.27 pounds of trash removed from Carlsbad Village, or more than 2.75 tons. It’s a milestone that would not be possible without the many volunteers who continue to give their time to help care for our community.

We were thrilled to welcome such a great group on Saturday, including neighbors, families, local businesses, and community members of all ages. We were also joined by nearly 20 students from the Carlsbad Educational Foundation Student Leadership Council, who spent their Saturday morning working alongside fellow volunteers and giving back to the community. We loved seeing so many young community members get involved and are grateful to the Student Leadership Council for being part of such a successful morning.

Our Community Clean-Ups are about more than the number on the scale. Each event is an opportunity to work side by side with neighbors, meet new people, and make a visible difference in the Village in just a few hours. Saturday was another wonderful example of what can happen when people come together to care for a place that means so much to all of us.

We’re also incredibly grateful to our Community Clean-Up partners, Pure Project and Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream, for their continued support of this program and for helping us thank our volunteers with special perks along the way. Thank you as well to Baba Coffee for providing coffee for our volunteers and helping make their morning a little brighter.

To everyone who grabbed a bucket, walked the Village, picked up litter, brought family and friends, or joined us for the first time, thank you. Every one of you contributed to those 429.8 pounds, and to the more than 5,500 pounds we have collectively removed from Carlsbad Village.
