Carlsbad 5000 Returns This Weekend: Come Cheer and Celebrate 40 Years!

The Carlsbad 5000 is back this weekend, April 12, 2026, celebrating 40 years of one of Carlsbad Village’s most iconic events. Known as the “World’s Fastest 5K,” this exciting weekend brings runners, families, and spectators to the coast for a full weekend of energy, community, and oceanfront views.

On Sunday, April 12, runners of all ages will take on the flat, fast course along Coast Highway 101, passing palm-lined streets and finishing under the famous Carlsbad Village sign. The event features a 5K race, Junior races for ages 4–12, and the festive “Party by the Sea.” Whether you’re a longtime fan or seeing it for the first time, it’s a thrilling day to be in the Village.

Not running? Come out and cheer! The course is lined with prime viewing spots, and the Village is full of lively, local spirit. It’s also a great opportunity to grab coffee, brunch, or a post-race bite while supporting participants along the route.

Supporting Local Youth

This year, the Carlsbad 5000 is proud to give back to the community by supporting the Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad. With a $5,000 donation to their youth athletic programs, the race is helping local kids stay active, play, and grow through sports while bringing the energy, excitement, and community spirit of the Carlsbad 5000 to the next generation.
