Category: What's New

Get ready to hit the pavement as the Carlsbad 5000 makes its triumphant return to the sunny streets of Carlsbad on Sunday, April 7, 2024! Whether you're a seasoned runner or new to the sport, this iconic event promises a day filled with energy, community spirit, and the thrill of racing along the stunning Southern California coastline.

Since its debut in 1986, the Carlsbad 5000 has been a beloved tradition, earning its title as the 'World's Fastest 5K.' This year, runners of all ages and abilities will join in on the excitement, including the ever-popular Junior Carlsbad kids' race.

One of the highlights of the event is the scenic 5K course, offering nearly two miles of breathtaking views and refreshing ocean breezes along the Pacific Ocean waterfront. And with an ALL NEW course design this year, there's even more to experience and enjoy.

The decision to introduce a new course after 37 years aims to enhance safety, activate the Village Faire Shopping Center, and create a seamless experience for participants and spectators alike. By eliminating train track crossings and routing the race through Carlsbad Village, organizers are excited to showcase the charm and vibrancy of the local community.

Whether you're cheering on loved ones or crossing the finish line yourself, the Carlsbad 5000 promises a day of camaraderie, achievement, and pure fun. So mark your calendars, gather your running buddies, and join us for a memorable celebration of spring and fitness. See you at the starting line!

Important Note: Road closures will be in effect starting as early as 6:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 6th, and 4:30 a.m. on Sunday, April 7th. Roads will reopen on a rolling basis following the last race of the day, as determined by local law enforcement.
