Warmer Weather Means Quality Beach Time

Blog Post - March 22, 2022

Category: What's New

Spring is officially here! With longer days and warmer temperatures coming to Carlsbad, this is the perfect time to start planning your trip to one of our many beautiful beaches. Carlsbad Village sits on a bluff overlooking seven miles of Southern California beaches, making it the perfect destination to enjoy the day playing in the sand, going for a romp in the waves, or simply relaxing in the sun.

Whether you are a local planning a staycation for Spring Break or a visitor looking for the inside scoop on how to maximize your visit, there are a wide variety of ways to enjoy a day at the beach in Carlsbad Village.

No matter what you are looking to do, our beaches will accommodate even the most finicky beachgoer. There are ten beach access points along the coast with nearby parking as well as many shopping and dining options to round out the day.

Carlsbad State Beach, also known as Tamarack Beach, stretches from the warm water jetties, just south of Tamarack Avenue, to Frazee Beach, near Carlsbad Village Drive. The beach is ideal for the family and kids, the state beach offers swimming, surfing, scuba diving, kayaking, windsurfing, fishing and beachcombing. Carlsbad State Beach offers an amazing view of the sunset. People gather nightly at the north end of the beach, on the bluff (towards the village) to watch the sun sink into the Pacific Ocean. The palisades and walkway atop the Seawall is another romantic spot for watching the sunset and enjoying the ocean view.

The Carlsbad Seawall, a paved 4-mile walking path along the coast, extends from Carlsbad Village drive to Cannon. The seawall separates the beach from Coast Hwy 101, where you can find people walking, jogging, and cycling. All throughout the day you can see joggers, walkers, cyclists and roller-bladers cruising up and down the path.

North Carlsbad beaches stretch from Pine Ave to the Oceanside border. Jointly owned by the state and the coastal property owners along that stretch, North Carlsbad beaches are open to the public. However, they do not have any lifeguard services, restrooms, showers or other amenities. These north beaches can be accessed at Carlsbad Village Drive, Grand Avenue, Christiansen Way, Beech Ave and Rue des Chateaux. The benefit of this stretch of coastline is the accessibility to a variety of restaurants, coffee shops and local boutiques.
