Carlsbad Village Clean-Up: A Big Weekend of Community and Impact

This past weekend brought another fantastic turnout for the Carlsbad Village Clean-Up, with nearly 140 volunteers showing up to help keep our streets, sidewalks, and public spaces looking their best. Under sunny skies and with great energy, volunteers collected 326 pounds of trash, pushing our all-time total to an impressive 3,801 pounds, just shy of our next milestone goal of 4,000!
A highlight of the day was the enthusiastic participation of the Kappu Mu Chapter of Delta Sigma Pi, the professional co-ed business fraternity from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. Nearly 40 of their members joined the clean-up and contributed an impressive 124 pounds to the day’s total. Their energy and teamwork helped set the tone for a productive and uplifting morning.
We were also thrilled to welcome 28 new families and individuals, many with kids excited to get involved, alongside 15 returning volunteers who continue to show up and support this growing effort.
A big thank you to our local business partners who helped make the day even more rewarding: Handel’s Ice Cream treated every volunteer to a free scoop, Baba Coffee offered discounts to keep the caffeine flowing, and Pure Project Carlsbad not only hosted our check-in station but also provided half off beer flights to participants. We’re so grateful for their continued support and commitment to our community.
Whether it was your first clean-up or you’ve been with us from the start, your efforts make a lasting difference. Each event also brings us closer to our year-end Trash Champion Contest, where one dedicated volunteer or team will win six months of free trash service from Republic Services (or a prizes of equal value).
Thank you to everyone who showed up with gloves, buckets, and a shared goal of keeping Carlsbad Village clean and beautiful. We can’t wait to see you at the next one!
