Celebrating Our Local Farmers at the State Street Farmers Market

National Farmers Day was observed on Monday, October 12, but at the State Street Farmers Market, we have the opportunity to celebrate and support our local farmers every Wednesday.

For more than 30 years, the State Street Farmers Market has brought local growers and the community together in the heart of Carlsbad Village. Each week, our certified growers offer a wonderful selection of seasonal fruits and vegetables, fresh flowers, herbs, nuts, honey, and other locally grown products. Beyond providing fresh, quality ingredients, these farmers play an important role in supporting local agriculture and making our market a cherished Village tradition.

Many of our growers operate family-owned farms throughout San Diego County and Southern California, bringing their harvests directly to market. Their dedication, knowledge, and commitment to their craft are reflected in the quality and variety of products available each week.

We are proud to recognize the growers who contribute to the success of the State Street Farmers Market and encourage our community to get to know the people behind their favorite market finds.

• Antonio Farms: A family farm offering a wide variety of fresh, seasonal produce.
• Behneman Farms: A family-owned farm in Valley Center offering citrus, avocados, greens, and more.
• Fancy Treats: Specializing in macadamia nuts, nut butters, and figs.
• Gaytan Farms: Offering berries, artichokes, Brussels sprouts, asparagus, fresh eggs, and other seasonal products.
• Hopkins Ag: Featuring raw, roasted, and flavored almonds, along with almond butter.
• JR Organics: An Escondido-based family farm offering carrots, broccolini, squash, sugar snap peas, and a variety of organic produce.
• Maciel Farms: A longtime market favorite and vendor since the State Street Farmers Market first opened in October 1994. Be sure to stop by and say hello to Madeline!
• Maldonado Growers: Offering beautiful cut flowers and freshly arranged bouquets.
• Max’s Honey House: Specializing in honey, honeycomb, and fresh bee pollen.
• Mountain Meadow Mushrooms: Featuring certified organic mushrooms, including button, cremini, shiitake, trumpet, and more.
• Morning Star Ranch: Offering fresh produce and a variety of freshly pressed green juices.
• Palmera Date Co.: Bringing fresh large and jumbo dates from the Coachella Valley. Currently on a seasonal break and expected to return in November.
• Perennial Pastures - grass-fed and grass-finished beef (filet, top sirloin, ground beef, roast, meat stick, hotdogs), eggs, raw milk, lamb, pork, chicken, turkey.
• Rey River: Offering broccoli, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, berries, and other seasonal produce.
• Rice Family Farms: Specializing in locally grown microgreens.
• R&L Farms: Featuring citrus, peaches, white and red cherries, blueberries, avocados, fresh eggs, and more.
• Rivera’s Garden: Offering fresh herbs, including thyme, basil, and mint, along with hanging plants and succulents.
• Smit Farms: Featuring apples, Asian pears, grapes, kiwi, stone fruits, almonds, pistachios, and dried fruit.
• Valdivia Farms: Offering heirloom tomatoes, zucchini, fava beans, spring onions, and other seasonal vegetables.

Supporting Our Farmers Every Wednesday

While National Farmers Day is a wonderful reminder to recognize the contributions of our agricultural community, supporting local farmers is something we can do throughout the year.

Every purchase at the State Street Farmers Market directly supports the growers who work hard to bring fresh, locally grown products to our community. It also provides an opportunity to learn about seasonal offerings, discover new ingredients, and build relationships with the people who grow our food.
