After well over a decade, Chalk Art is returning to the 27th Annual Art in the Village on Sunday, June 22, 2025!

From its beginnings with Art Splash many years ago, chalk art has been synonymous with Carlsbad. It is that rare, unique art form that pushed the boundaries of our imagination. Watching large format pieces come to life in front of your eyes is an experience you will always remember.

With the help of local artists Ron Juncal and Phyllis Swanson, as well as San Diego artist Katie Bush, and others, this year's Art in the Village will come alive and will also live on. Rather than being washed off a street or sidewalk, which usually happens once the chalk piece is completed, at Art in the Village each artist will create at least one four-foot by four-foot image on a specially prepared board. These pieces will take the entire day to finish and once completed they will be on display in a variety of businesses downtown for the public to enjoy long afterwards. The Chalk Zone will open at 10am and will remain open until 6pm.

This year's Chalk Zone will be located in the fountain parking lot at the northwest corner of Grand Avenue and State Street. Live music will accompany the artists throughout the day.

Come enjoy art unfold before your eyes. Stay a while. Meet the artists. It is an honor to have them with us for the 27th annual event. We hope you enjoy the Chalk Zone as much as we do. We think you are going to love it!
