Cheer on Runners at the 2026 Carlsbad Marathon This Sunday

This Sunday, January 18, 2026, the streets of Carlsbad will be buzzing with excitement as the Carlsbad Marathon, Half Marathon, and 5K return! With over 6,000 participants and 10,000 spectators expected, it’s one of the biggest community events of the year.

The race begins and ends at The Shoppes at Carlsbad shopping center, providing a lively start/finish area for cheering on runners. Spectators can enjoy the festive atmosphere and watch runners along the scenic coastal and village routes. Public parking is available at The Shoppes, and organizers recommend arriving early to secure a spot.
Road closures on race day will be in effect from 5 a.m. to 2 p.m., including:
- Marron Road (Monroe Street ↔ Jefferson Street)
- Monroe Street (Marron Road ↔ Carlsbad Village Drive)
- Jefferson Street (Marron Road ↔ Grand Avenue)
- Laguna Drive (Jefferson Street ↔ State Street)
- State Street (Laguna Drive ↔ Carlsbad Boulevard)
- Carlsbad Boulevard (north city limits at Buena Vista Lagoon ↔ south city limits at La Costa Avenue; northbound lanes between La Costa Avenue and Poinsettia Lane remain open)
- Poinsettia Lane (Avenida Encinas ↔ Carlsbad Boulevard)
- Palomar Airport Road (Carlsbad Boulevard ↔ Avenida Encinas)
