The City of Carlsbad continues to make progress on improving parking availability in the Village and Barrio, with new spaces recently added and additional improvements planned for the coming year.

Following the addition of 44 parking spaces last year, the city recently created 11 more spaces on State Street, along Oak Avenue between Tyler Street and the railroad tracks, and in surrounding beach areas. These improvements are part of the city’s ongoing efforts to address parking needs and improve accessibility for residents, businesses, and visitors.

Looking ahead, work is expected to begin in spring 2027 on two additional projects that will create 16 more parking spaces by converting existing parallel parking to diagonal or perpendicular parking. The improvements will take place along Grand Avenue between the Tyler Street alley and Jefferson Street, and on Chestnut Avenue near Pine Park.

The city is also continuing to evaluate additional opportunities to expand parking availability throughout the Village and Barrio.

Community members are encouraged to stay informed about upcoming improvements and future projects by visiting the City of Carlsbad’s website, where they can also sign up to receive parking project updates.
