Category: What's New

Summer nights in Carlsbad Village are about to get even better.

Beginning Thursday, July 9, Flicks at the Fountain returns to the Fountain Parking Lot for five weeks of free outdoor movies, bringing together families, friends, and neighbors for one of the Village’s favorite summer traditions.

The season kicks off with Zootopia 2 and continues every Thursday through August 6 with a lineup of family favorites and new adventures:

July 9 – Zootopia 2

July 16 – Beethoven

July 23 – Aladdin

July 30 – How to Train Your Dragon (2025)

August 6 – Superman (2025)

What to Expect

The parking lot opens at 6 PM each Thursday, and the movies begin at dusk, around 8 PM. Admission is free, making it an easy and memorable way to spend a summer evening in the heart of Carlsbad Village.

Guests are encouraged to bring blankets and low-back chairs and arrive early to claim their spot. The time before the movie has become part of the tradition itself, with families gathering, kids playing, and friends catching up before the opening credits roll.

Make an Evening of It

One of the best parts of Flicks at the Fountain is that it’s more than just a movie.

Before the show, take a stroll through Carlsbad Village, enjoy dinner at one of the many local restaurants, pick up dessert or a refreshing drink, and explore everything downtown has to offer. For those who prefer to stay put, Knockout Pizza will once again be on-site taking orders and delivering pizza directly to moviegoers.

Fun Before the Film

Pre-movie activities begin around 6 PM each week and offer something new throughout the season.

Opening night on July 9 will feature themed activities hosted by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad before Zootopia 2. The organization will also return for activities during Beethoven on July 16 and Superman on August 6.

On July 23, the North Coastal Art Gallery’s Mad Hatters will lead a creative hat-making activity for kids and families before Aladdin. Then, on July 30, Trivia Tim will bring the fun with Music Bingo ahead of How to Train Your Dragon.

A Carlsbad Village Summer Tradition

There’s something special about watching a movie under the stars surrounded by friends, family, and community. For many, Flicks at the Fountain has become a summer tradition and a chance to slow down and enjoy simple evenings together in the heart of the Village.

Whether you’re planning to attend one movie or all five, we invite you to join us beginning July 9 for another season of free family fun at the fountain.
