Flicks at the Fountain: Your Guide to Carlsbad Village’s Summer Movie Nights

Blog Post - July 1, 2025

Category: What's New

Carlsbad Village is gearing up for its annual outdoor film series, Flicks at the Fountain, starting Thursday, July 10. Running every Thursday evening through August 7, this free event transforms the fountain parking lot at State Street and Grand Avenue into a vibrant community gathering spot where neighbors and visitors can enjoy classic and contemporary movies under the stars.

Timing and Location:

Seating opens at 6 p.m., giving everyone plenty of time to find a comfortable spot before the movie begins at dusk (typically around 8 p.m.). Early arrival is encouraged.

Film Lineup for 2025:

• July 10: Moana 2 — Dive into this animated sequel filled with adventure and music.

• July 17: Little Giants — A fun, family-friendly football comedy.

• July 24: Enchanted — A magical blend of fairy-tale whimsy and New York City charm.

• July 31: Ratatouille — Follow the culinary escapades of a Parisian rat with a taste for fine food.

• August 7: Captain America: Brave New World — The summer’s superhero finale.

What to Bring:

Attendees are asked to bring low-backed chairs or blankets to ensure everyone has a clear view of the screen. Tall or bulky chairs can obstruct sightlines and are discouraged. Given the coastal location, temperatures can drop after sunset, so layers or light jackets are recommended to stay comfortable throughout the evening.

Dining and Refreshments:

One of the highlights of Flicks at the Fountain is pairing great films with great food. Many guests opt to pick up takeout from the Village’s diverse range of restaurants from fresh sushi to gourmet burgers. Delivery services also frequently bring meals directly to the parking lot, making it easy to enjoy dinner al fresco without missing a moment of the show. This year the Carlsbad Village Association is partnering with CVA Member Knockout Pizza who will be on site taking orders and delivering freshly baked, hot pizza to the fountain parking lot! While alcohol is not permitted at the event, guests are welcome to bring snacks and non-alcoholic beverages.

Community Atmosphere and Guidelines:

This event is family-friendly and pet-friendly. Well-behaved dogs on leashes are welcome. To maintain a welcoming environment for all, attendees are encouraged to keep noise levels down and be considerate of neighbors. The event is free, made possible by the generous support of local businesses and sponsors committed to fostering community spirit in the Village. We can’t thank them enough!

Mark your calendar for July 10 and join your neighbors for a summer tradition that’s truly the highlight of the season. See you at the movies!
