Hearts of Carlsbad Village: A Week-Long Celebration of Community & Local Love

This February, Hearts of Carlsbad Village returns with an all-new format, expanding from a single-day event into a full weeklong celebration of creativity, exploration, and connection throughout downtown Carlsbad Village. From February 7 through 14, visitors are invited to experience the Village in fresh, engaging ways while discovering hidden treasures and supporting local businesses.

Originally created by the Carlsbad Village Association as a way to bring people and businesses back together during the pandemic, Hearts of Carlsbad Village has since become a beloved annual tradition. After five years of growth and feedback from participants and businesses, the event has been thoughtfully reimagined to create a more relaxed, inclusive, and enjoyable experience for everyone. This new format encourages participants to explore at their own pace, with multiple opportunities to join in throughout the week.

Explore the Village

February 7–13

Throughout the week, 250 glass hearts, handcrafted by Barrio Glassworks, will be hidden in plain sight across the Village — outside shops, restaurants, and public spaces. Visitors are encouraged to stroll through Carlsbad Village during regular business hours, discover new favorite spots, and keep an eye out for these beautiful pieces of art hidden in plain sight. Unlike previous years, this extended format allows for a more relaxed and organic experience. Whether running errands, grabbing lunch, or taking an evening walk, you never know when you might stumble upon a hidden heart.

Village-Wide Scavenger Hunt

Saturday, February 14

On Valentine’s Day, the week culminates in a structured scavenger hunt. Participants can register, in advance, for one of 250 scavenger hunt cards and spend 90 minutes exploring the Village while completing the challenge.

All registered participants who complete the scavenger hunt will receive a handcrafted blown glass heart, ensuring a memorable keepsake from the event. MUST SIGN UP IN ORDER TO PARTICIPATE. More details and sign up will be available soon. 

Hearts of Carlsbad Village Blood Drive

Also on Valentine’s Day, the community is invited to join the Heart of The Village Blood Drive at Barrio Glassworks. NEW THIS YEAR: Donors who give blood will receive a blown glass heart as a thank-you for their life-saving contribution. SIGN UP HERE!
