The State Street Farmers Market has been a part of Carlsbad Village since 1994, bringing fresh, locally grown produce and artisan food products to State Street every Wednesday. For more than three decades, the market has connected our community directly with farmers and food makers while supporting a strong and sustainable local food system.
Now, we have an opportunity to celebrate what makes our market so special and potentially bring additional resources right back to it.
The State Street Farmers Market is participating in America’s Farmers Market Celebration, an annual nationwide campaign presented by American Farmland Trust that recognizes the important role farmers markets play in communities across the country. Through September 30, marketgoers can cast their vote for the farmers market they value most.

In addition to national, regional and state recognition, this year’s celebration includes $15,000 in awards for winning markets. Should the State Street Farmers Market receive an award, those funds would be reinvested directly into the market, helping us continue to strengthen and enhance the experience for our farmers, food makers and marketgoers.
For us, that is what makes this opportunity especially meaningful. Recognition through America’s Farmers Market Celebration would not only shine a spotlight on a market that has served Carlsbad for more than 30 years, but could also provide additional resources to support its continued success.
Every Wednesday, our farmers and food makers arrive on State Street with fresh produce, locally made foods and the products our shoppers have come to know and love. In turn, our community continues to show up and support them week after week. That relationship is at the heart of the State Street Farmers Market and has allowed it to remain a longstanding Carlsbad Village tradition.
