The Carlsbad Village Association is honored to announce Josh Serafin as the Artist Ambassador for the 27th Art in the Village, taking place on Sunday, June 22, 2025, from 10 AM to 6 PM in downtown Carlsbad.

A native of Huntington Beach, California, Serafin has been a prominent figure in the beach culture art movement for over two decades. His journey began in 1999 with the acclaimed photographic diary Sunset Resolution, capturing a year’s worth of sunsets and earning him national recognition.

Serafin’s artistry is deeply rooted in the natural beauty of coastal life. His paintings evoke feelings of joy and peace, depicting serene coastlines, ocean depths, and the vibrant energy of surf culture. As his work evolved, so did his subjects, expanding to include snowboarding, mountain hiking, the human form, and musical expression. This evolution also saw a transition in his medium, moving from traditional canvas to wood panels, and eventually mastering the ancient technique of reverse painting on glass.

Utilizing oil paints, Serafin applies his craft with brushes, palette knives, and even his fingers, building each piece layer by layer. His larger glass works, some measuring up to 30”x80”, are renowned for their multilayered textures and dynamic movement, capturing the essence of life’s most exhilarating moments.

The 27th Annual Art in the Village will feature 150 local and regional fine artists, live music, performance art, artist demonstrations, a children’s art-making pavilion, and more. As Artist Ambassador, Serafin embodies the spirit of the festival, celebrating creativity, community, and the captivating allure of coastal life.
