Let’s Hit 4,000 lbs of Trash: Village Clean-Up Returns This Saturday

Summer’s here, and so is our first Carlsbad Village Clean-Up of the season. It’s happening this Saturday, July 12, and we’re ready for a great morning of community, connection, and a whole lot of clean streets.
We’ll be meeting from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM outside Pure Project Carlsbad (2825 State Street), and everyone’s invited, whether it’s your tenth time joining us or your very first. These clean-ups are easy to jump into and make a big difference in keeping the Village beautiful.
Last time around, 140 volunteers came out and cleared 326 pounds of trash from sidewalks, curbs, and open spaces. That brings us to a total of 3,801 pounds collected since the program began. Now we’re aiming for our next big goal - 4,000 pounds - and we’re nearly there.
We’ll have gloves, grabbers, and buckets on hand (while supplies last), but if you’ve got your own tools, even better. Bringing your own helps reduce waste and keeps the effort sustainable.
And while we love handing out thank-you perks, we’re raising the bar just a bit. Moving forward, volunteers who collect at least two pounds of trash will earn the usual post-clean-up rewards from our partners: cone cards from Handel’s Ice Cream, discounts on coffee drinks at Baba Coffee, and $1 off a pint and flight cards at Pure Project Carlsbad. It’s a fun way to keep things fair while celebrating the people who dig in and make a visible impact.
Plus, every clean-up brings you closer to winning our Trash Champion Contest. The individual or team who collects the most trash by the end of 2025 will win six months of free trash service from Republic Services or a prize of equal value.
Our clean-ups happen every other month, and they keep growing thanks to neighbors who care. So bring a friend, wear sunscreen, and come spend a couple hours doing something good.
We’ll see you Saturday. Let’s reach that 4,000-pound mark together!
