Carlsbad Village will come alive with music and holiday cheer this Friday, December 5, as our community gathers for the annual Musical Kickoff to the Holidays. Beginning at 4:00 PM in the Fountain Parking Lot, this free outdoor celebration brings together families, neighbors, students, and local businesses for an evening that highlights the heart of the season.
The event features outstanding performances from Carlsbad Unified’s middle and high school musicians, including choirs, chamber groups, and the always-popular Carlsbad High School Holiday Jazz Band. With twinkling lights, festive décor, and a welcoming atmosphere, the space will transform into a vibrant holiday venue where the community can come together and enjoy the talent of our local student performers.
Guests are invited to enjoy complimentary hot cocoa from Better Buzz and sweet treats from Barons Market , adding a cozy touch to the evening as they settle in for the music. The celebration also supports the Village’s thriving small businesses during the busy holiday shopping season, encouraging visitors to explore nearby shops and restaurants before or after the event.
The performance lineup begins with a solo by Abbey Zavala at 4:00 PM, followed by spirited sets from Carlsbad High School’s jazz and choral programs and talented ensembles from Aviara Oaks, Calavera Hills, Valley Middle School, Carlsbad High School, and Sage Creek High School. Music continues through 7:00 PM, offering a full evening of festive melodies.
Whether you come for the music, the atmosphere, or the sense of togetherness, the Musical Kickoff to the Holidays is a chance to celebrate what makes Carlsbad so special: creativity, community, and a shared love of the season. Join us this Friday at 4:00 PM and help us welcome the holidays in true Carlsbad Village style.
