Known at Mister Toledo, Los Angeles-based artist, Daniel, said he's happy he was able to paint his first mural of 2023 in North San Diego County. He had been wanting to paint more in San Diego and Carlsbad was a place he used to go to see all the murals when he lived nearby.
"I'm so happy Bryan Snyder (@snyderart) contacted me to paint on the Senor Grubby's rotating mural wall," Daniel said. "When coming up with the concept, I really wanted to paint something that had to do with my Mexican heritage. Also there's a big Latino community and history in Carlsbad."
Daniel said that traditional ballet folklórico that has been danced for hundreds of years can be traced all the way back to ceremonial dances of indigenous people. His cousin was a folklórico dancer and he used her for reference in this mural.
If you haven't yet seen it for yourself, swing by Senor Grubby's at 377 Carlsbad Village Drive. Enjoy this special place in Carlsbad Village; stay a while.
