St. Michael’s Jazz Fest Brings a Full Day of Music to Carlsbad Village This Saturday

This Saturday, September 26, St. Michael’s Jazz Fest returns to Carlsbad Village for its third year, bringing a full day of live music, family-friendly activities and community fun to the lawn at St. Michael’s by-the-Sea. The free outdoor festival begins at 10:30 AM and continues until 8:00 PM.

This year’s lineup celebrates an impressive range of musical styles and performers, with women taking center stage throughout the day. Headlining the Main Stage is world-class percussionist Monette Marino Keita, who has spent more than three decades mastering and sharing the traditions of West African drumming.

Festivalgoers can also enjoy performances by Euphoria Brass Band, the Mercedes Moore Band, the Matt Smith Neu Jazz Trio featuring Teryn Ré, country blues musician Ben Powell, local favorite Robin Henkel, The Soto Six, Dina Maeva, The Hot Club of Bird Park and many more.

From country blues and early jazz to New Orleans brass, swing, Latin jazz, funk, Afrobeat and mariachi, the festival offers something for every musical taste. Local food and drink vendors will be available throughout the day, with beverages on tap from Pizza Port Carlsbad.

Families can also visit a dedicated children’s area filled with music-themed arts and crafts, interactive activities and entertainment. At 12:00 PM, beloved Carlsbad artist and author Janell Cannon will make a special appearance to read her celebrated children’s book, Stellaluna.

Made possible by the many partners and volunteers dedicated to building community through music, St. Michael’s Jazz Fest is a wonderful opportunity to gather with friends and family, discover talented musicians and enjoy an unforgettable day in the Village.
