For more than 30 years, the State Street Farmers Market has been a place where neighbors gather, local businesses thrive, and the community comes together. Now, that tradition has earned one of North County’s highest honors. The State Street Farmers Market has been voted Gold in the 2026 Best of North County awards.

This recognition is especially meaningful because it’s decided by the community. Thousands of North County residents cast their votes each year, making this award a true reflection of the market’s lasting impact and the loyal support of shoppers, vendors, and visitors alike.

The market’s story began on October 12, 1994, when the Carlsbad Village Certified Farmers Market first opened with just 20 vendors. As one of the Carlsbad Village Association’s earliest initiatives, it was created to bring fresh, local produce to the community while helping revitalize Carlsbad Village. Over the years, it has grown into one of San Diego County’s longest-running certified farmers markets and a beloved weekly tradition.

In 2013, the market moved to its current home on State Street, creating the vibrant, walkable experience visitors know today. Every Wednesday, the street comes alive with over 50 vendors including local farmers, artisan food makers, specialty vendors, fresh flowers, baked goods and more, while providing an important boost to surrounding Village businesses.
Today, the State Street Farmers Market welcomes thousands of shoppers each week and continues to celebrate everything that makes Carlsbad Village special: supporting local, fostering community connections, and creating memorable experiences for residents and visitors alike.
Thank you to everyone who voted and to the incredible farmers, vendors, staff, and shoppers who have helped make the State Street Farmers Market a North County favorite for more than three decades.
