The music of Queen is taking over Carlsbad Village!
We Will Rock You is now on stage at New Village Arts, bringing more than 20 of Queen’s greatest hits to the Dea Hurston New Village Arts Center for a high-energy musical running through September 20.
Featuring favorites including “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “Somebody to Love,” “We Are the Champions” and, of course, “We Will Rock You,” the production combines Queen’s unmistakable music with a story celebrating individuality, rebellion and the power of finding your voice.
The story takes audiences into a futuristic world where algorithms control nearly every part of life and original thought has disappeared. A group of young revolutionaries sets out to challenge the status quo and rediscover something the world has lost: rock ‘n’ roll. Add larger-than-life characters and a soundtrack packed with songs generations of fans know and love, and it makes for a lively night at the theatre.
With music and lyrics by Queen and a story and script by Ben Elton, the New Village Arts production is directed by Sheldon Gomabon, with musical direction by Erin Vanderhyde Gross and choreography by Erica Kahn. Performances continue through September 20, at New Village Arts, located at 2787 State Street in Carlsbad Village.
