Meet Jolene Earthwednesday Marquez, a San Diego beach town native and owner of Village Florist Co., Carlsbad Village's newest flower shop! Village Florist Co. is a premier full-service floral studio offering exceptional designs for all occasions. Jolene and her team specialize in creating custom floral designs for weddings, corporate events, and other special occasions, and offers a wide variety of beautiful and fresh flowers and plants for everyday occasions such as birthdays, anniversaries, and holidays, or for that “You Got This” type of occasion!

Growing up, Jolene’s love of nature was ignited by her grandfather Laylo, owner of Marquez Landscape. Watching the beauty he created with his hardworking hands inspired her to explore her own path. From the ages of 18 to 25, Jolene worked in multiple flower shops where she honed a unique style of her own.

Soon Jolene became a mother and entered the banking world, but continued to work at flower shops on major holidays because of the pure joy it brought to her.

When Jolene’s world was turned upside down with an Ovarian Cancer diagnosis in 2018, she realized that “dreams are only dreams until you go after them." So that is what she did.

In 2020 Jolene made her dreams come true and acquired the keys to a charming flower shop in the heart of Bay Park. Today, her full service flower shop is thriving in Bay Park and she has officially opened her second flower shop, the Village Florist Co., right in the heart of downtown Carlsbad. While not yet open regular hours, as she and her fiancé are still in the process of moving in and decorating, she is open.

Jolene’s floral designs are a reflection of her free spirit which is dreamy, ethereal and intuitive. Every bouquet she creates is a work of art, infused with her own unique style and energy. She calls it "Where Bridgerton and Boho meet."

For CVA's Mother's Day scavenger hunt on May 13th, Jolene helped us provide 100 ladies with a gorgeous long stem pink rose and one lucky winner (above) even went home with a stunning Mother's Day bouquet.
