One of the most exciting parts of Art in the Village is the opportunity to experience art as it’s being created, and this year visitors will have the chance to do just that with local muralist and fine artist Taylor Gallegos.

During the 28th Annual Art in the Village on Sunday, June 28, from 10 AM to 6 PM, Taylor will create a live mural painting throughout the day, transforming a blank 6-foot by 9-foot canvas into a one-of-a-kind work of art right before the eyes of festival attendees.

A Carlsbad-based artist, Taylor has become a familiar name throughout the community. His impressive portfolio includes work for major clients such as Toyota, Hilton, Twitter Headquarters, and Sony PlayStation. With a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree and a California contractor’s license, he works on commercial, residential, and public art projects throughout San Diego, Los Angeles, the Bay Area, and beyond. Yet despite his growing national presence, Carlsbad remains home.

Taylor’s impact can already be seen throughout the Village, where 14 of his murals currently brighten local spaces, with even more on the way.

For his live painting experience at Art in the Village, Taylor plans to begin with a loose concept and allow the creative process to unfold organically throughout the day. “I love to let the art itself be an active collaborator in the overall direction it ends up going,” says Taylor.

Whether you’re an art lover, an aspiring creative, or simply curious to see how a large-scale artwork comes together, be sure to stop by and watch Taylor’s mural progress throughout the day. It’s a unique chance to witness creativity in action and experience another layer of what makes Art in the Village such a special community tradition.
