Lighting Up the Village With Whimsy and Holiday Cheer

The Holiday Window Decorating Contest is returning to Carlsbad Village this December, bringing festive cheer and creative holiday displays to storefront windows throughout the Village. As residents and visitors shop, dine, and stroll, each decorated window will be on full display, creating a walkable holiday experience in the heart of our coastal downtown.

The decorated windows will be on public display beginning Wednesday, December 3 and community voting for the People’s Choice Award will take place from December 3 through December 16.

While the contest is open to Village businesses, the community plays an important role. Everyone is encouraged to explore the decorated windows and vote for the People’s Choice Award. Community voting helps highlight the displays that best capture the spirit of the season and is a wonderful way to support local businesses during the holidays.

For Village Businesses

All businesses located in the Village are invited to participate. Whether your style is classic, whimsical, coastal, or highly creative, your display contributes to a welcoming and festive atmosphere enjoyed by everyone.

Award Categories

One winner will be selected in each:

• Classic Holiday Charm
• Children’s Delight
• Most Creative Display
• Best of Carlsbad Spirit
• People’s Choice Award (voted on by the public)

Recognition for Winners

• Category winners receive a full-page feature in the January/February issue of Carlsbad Magazine
• The People’s Choice Award winner also receives a free 1/4-page ad in Carlsbad Magazine and restaurant gift cards for up to 10 team members

Important Dates

• Sign-Up Deadline: Wednesday, November 26, 2025
• Displays Completed By: Wednesday, December 3, 2025
  (Businesses are encouraged to complete displays by November 29 to take advantage of Small Business Saturday foot traffic.)
• Community Voting Opens: Wednesday, December 3, 2025
• Voting Closes: Tuesday, December 16, 2025 at 5:00 pm PST
• Winners Announced: Wednesday, December 17, 2025
